Accessibility Statement

Website: https://www.wphs.co.uk/ Prepared: 10/12/2025

1. Our Commitment

Watertight Plumbing and Heating Services Ltd (WPHS) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

2. Measures to Support Accessibility

WPHS takes the following measures to ensure the accessibility of our website:

  • We incorporate accessibility into our internal policies.

  • We assign clear accessibility goals and responsibilities.

  • We use a content management system (CMS) that supports accessible content creation.

  • We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA level.

3. Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

Our goal is for the WPHS website to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. While we are actively working towards full conformance, we acknowledge that some areas of the site may still be undergoing updates to achieve this level.

4. Technical Specifications

Accessibility of the WPHS website relies on the following technologies to work with the combination of a web browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer:

  • HTML

  • WAI-ARIA

  • CSS

  • JavaScript

These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standards used.

5. Accessibility Features

We strive to ensure the following features are present on our website:

  • Keyboard Navigation: All main links and interactive elements can be navigated using only a keyboard (Tab key).

  • Alternative Text: Most non-text content, such as images of products and showrooms, includes descriptive alternative text for screen readers.

  • Clear Headings: Content is structured using clear and logical headings.

  • Resizable Text: Users can change text size without loss of content or functionality by using standard browser controls.

  • Contrast: We have aimed for sufficient colour contrast between text and background colours.

  • Descriptive Links: Link text is descriptive to help users understand the purpose of the link.

6. Limitations and Future Plans

Despite our best efforts, users may experience limitations. These are examples of areas we are currently working to improve:

  • Third-party content: Embedded elements from external platforms (e.g., social media feeds, third-party videos, or mapping services) may not be fully accessible. We are committed to choosing accessible third-party providers where possible.

  • PDF Documents: Older PDF documents (such as archived account forms or brochures) may not be fully accessible to screen reader software. We plan to either update these or provide accessible alternatives upon request.

We have a plan to address these issues by:

  • Reviewing all embedded content and replacing non-compliant elements where possible.

  • Conducting a full accessibility audit every [Insert Frequency, e.g., 12 months].

  • Providing training for our content creators on accessible writing practices.
